Comments about range:

Elevation range 1050-1650 m (B87CLA65WYUS, A81STR65WYUS). Eastern side of Big Horns. An unknown number of occurrences may be misidentifications of ermine. Not much is known about its distribution in Wyoming (WY-GAP reviewers); the population near Sheridan is separated by great distances from other populations in Kansas, Nebraska and South Dakota (B87CLA65WYUS).

Comments about habitat associations:

Association with floodplains adjacent to reservoirs (A88CLA65WYUS, B87NOV65WYUS). Rolling gentle ridges dominated by sagebrush and grasses that are divided by riparian habitats of willows and cottonwoods (A81STR65WYUS). Least weasel tends to occur in open areas, whereas other weasels are found more often in wooded habitats (B87NOV65WYUS). Outside of Wyoming it has also been associated with prairie, hayfields and farmlands (B87NOV65WYUS).

Comments about mapping:

The distribution map for this species should be considered questionable as not enough is known about this species in Wyoming, and an unknown number of occurrences may be misidentifications.
