NASA NativeView
Description:
The Wyoming NASA Space Grant Consortium funded this
educational project to provide training to Native American
resource managers on the Wind River Reservation (WRR) in
central Wyoming. Workshops were conducted on the Reservation
in December 2004 that emphasized the application of
satellite imagery and other remotely sensed data to real
management issues. Workshops included the fundamentals of
remote sensing, and the integration of remotely sensed data
into the existing GIS activities on the WRR. Workshops were
taught by Sivanpillai and Driese of WyGISC and by Bill Gribb
of the UW Dept. of Geography. Additionally, we provided a
dedicated computer workstation and the Erdas Imagine image
processing software to the WRR so that they can apply the
skills learned in the workshops. We hope to continue these
activities in future years.
