Arphia pseudonietana, the redwinged grasshopper, is found throughout
Wyoming rangelands and prefers areas with patches of barren ground. Eggs
overwinter in the soil and hatch in late June. Adults occur in August and
September. It is a mixed feeder but prefers grasses. It is never numerous
enough to damage rangeland forage except in conjunction with other species.
